Number 3

Baby Jesus - or Lord Jesus as he is enthusiastically referred to by the smaller dunnes- is still missing. A search party has been organised, might be able to post a picture of his concerned parents on twitter later

Right: Lunch was 2 eggs on toast (white admittedly ) and some fruit and tea (maybe one fig roll)

Should I weigh myself immediately to chart the pounds melting away or wait til I eat tea also?

listening to 50 Words for Snow, the weight watchers friend , on Vinyl naturally
It's a little hit and miss, but the good bits are so stunning, even Elton Johns guest slot works

Right two more bits for the show tomorrow, and then I suppose I will have to consider the exercise bit of the new me equation

The TV remote is found

  1. Only weigh yourself once a week, preferably first thing in the morning. Maybe start tomorrow morning? Your weight can fluctuate a lot so if you weigh yourself every day you'll either think you're doing great and eat loads or think you're doing badly, feel terrible and eat loads.

Download the Get Running app - best Coach to 5k plan out there (cos you can listen to your own music or podcasts). Within three weeks you'll be seriously considering representing Ireland in London 2012!!

  3. Hey Tom, with exercise start off small and build it up gradually, check out bodyweight workout routines on youtube, or I have several made up if you need. This will enable you to exercise at home 20-30 minute sessions. Keep with it too we believe in you. Kenbrowneirl@gmail.com

  4. Hi Tom, looking forward to following you on your quest! I used the 'my fitness pal' app last year to help me lose weight and I found it a great help. You can monitor your calories and exercise on it and it's free

  5. Tom can I also recommend Habitforge.com. It's a free website where you can set up a daily habit i.e. "exercise at least 20 mins each day" then the website emails you each morning and asks you to confirm whether you succeeded or not. It collects stats on your success or failure and the idea is to achieve 21 days in a row at which point "it's a habit". Great resource!

  7. Hey Tom, Why not add some financial pain. I have a bet with my wife on if i'll last or not. Like you, this year I decided to lose a few pounds and wanted to try something different. Knowing that my weakness for biscuits, crisps and choc were key to my new me, I decided not to give them up. Instead I decided to drink only water for one year. That's right no tea, coffee, coke, fanta( a must at Christmas), beer or wine for 2012! The idea is that in the past I ate the Biscuits and crisp only with a tea, coffee or beer. Now this was just an idea in my head that I thought, well if I last, well done me, and if not, no biggy. That was until my lovely Wife used the inviting words 'BET'. she said I'll bet you 500 big ones the you won't last. Now i am unstoppable in my quest to get the pot of 500 euros at the end of the rainbow! Go Tom GO!
